Of all the places I've visited in the world, my favorite place is still one of the simpler ones and is relatively close to my home I've made as an adult.
It's the family cottage, painted in white and what my grandpa Toon (pronounced "tone") called a "restful green" (in other words, forest green). I'm not sure what's so alluring about the place; it is, after all, very rustic. It doesn't feature heat, a shower, or even hot water. However, it does feature many happy memories of lazy days at the lake and family adventures. Or maybe the allure is that as much as we want to own it, it's something we can't buy but we can enjoy.
