Am I weird because I was looking to buy some powdered milk at the store, they didn't have any, and I quite seriously started reading the ingredients in baby formula? Btw, that stuff is crazy expensive!
I generally don't buy/drink/use milk because I'm slightly allergic to it. However, I occasionally cook something that requires milk so I thought I could keep some on hand in the form of powdered milk so I wouldn't have to make a special trip to get fresh milk (and be stuck with leftovers that I wouldn't want to drink).
I do buy and use dairy-free alternatives (mostly soy milk for cooking) but I wanted to see if milk powder would be cheaper. Plus, for some things, like mac n' cheese, I didn't want a strange aftertaste.
Do you think that coffee drinkers who use milk could be okay to use powdered milk instead of fresh or boxed, or is that a no-go?
Difficult question. I never had powdered milk. Would not want to try it though. But the boxed coffee milk is available in those tiny capsules, wouldn't that be something for you? It is cheap and keeping. And I just read that when you add water to it, it's close to normal milk.
yeah definitely weird. What do you need powdered milk for?

Deletewhy don't you buy coconut milk? It's great to cook with!

DeleteThat sounds like a good idea. I should see if they sell small amounts of them. I don't have my coffee-drinking friends over nearly enough, I think! :)
